Believe it or not, Bungle from 'Rainbow' used to look very different...



Back in 1972, the children's programme Rainbow, which ran until 1997, was in its first series.

And apparently, the creators were hell-bent on scaring the bejesus out of anyone who watched it.

Indeed, the original Bungle was subsequently replaced the following year when it was deemed too horrific for the eyes of young children.

Personally, I didn't know anything about this until a consignment of four photos were sent to the Rake & Herald by the Reverend Marcus Trepanning.
