Winter Ales Fest starts tomorrow

CAMRA's National Winter Ales Festival kicks off tomorrow (17/2/16) in Derby.

The National Winter Ales Festival, one of the flagship events organised by the UK's Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), will get underway at 16:00 local time tomorrow (17/2/16) at the Roundhouse in Derby.

Marking the third and final time1 that the bash will be held in the city, the event will see a panel of judges racking their brains and taste buds to choose this year's Champion Winter Beer of Britain (CWBOB), a golden gong that last year went to Elland 1872 Porter for the second time in three years.

BEER, CIDER AND MEAD
So, will Elland rack up a third victory or will another brew win?

Who knows?

But an announcement will be made at 15:00 before the doors open to public so you'll just have to wait till then, I guess.

At the same time, a press release states, "the finest porters, stouts, old ales and barley wines will be blind-tasted by judging panels, [with] the winners from each category [making] it into the 2016 Champion Beer of Britain competition, taking place at the Great British Beer Festival in August at Olympia, London".

And there will be a fair few beers to choose from by the looks of it.

According to the press release, more than 470 real ales will be on offer "as well as cider and mead – a traditional beverage made from fermenting honey, which is not usually seen at beer festivals".

The Festival is set to run until this coming Saturday, "with tickets only available on the door from £3 [£4.35] to £6 depending on the session and day".

More info here, yeah?
